Abacus acted as the sole Costs Accountants for the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse, presided over by Mr Justice Sean Ryan. Our involvement in this Commission spanned over 14 years, and involved dealing with claims for third party legal costs (from complainants and respondents) with a total value in excess of €57 million. The level of savings achieved for the public purse were unprecedented for government Commissions of Inquiry, equating to over 45% of the total amount claimed.
